Xtreme Heights is a Richmond, VA based Pole Vaulting Club for aspiring pole vaulters of all ages and levels. The club was established in 1998 and registered with USA Track and Field in 2000 by Val Osipenko, the head coach.
Current and former members consist of middle school, high school, and college level athletes, including District, Regional, State and National Champions, all-ACC performers, NCAA Regional qualifiers and many school record holders.
Some outstanding former athletes include Kira Barcus, VHSL Outdoor Champion and state record holder and the first girl in the state to clear 12 feet. Vika Osipenko, University of Virginia Indoor and Outdoor Track Pole Vault record holder and an All-ACC performer. As well as David Sullivan, University of Virginia Outdoor Track Pole vault record holder, regional qualifier and an All-ACC performer. Anne Marie Gordon, a senior at Duke and the 2005 & 2007 VHSL AAA State Indoor pole vault champion with a best of 12 feet 3 inches. Some more former athletes include Annie Powell,a best of 12 feet 8 inches, and Matthew Armentrout with a current personal best of 15’9″. Matthew was the National Scholastic Indoor Pole Vault Champion, 2 time VHSL AAA Outdoor pole vault champion, and2 time VHSL AAA Indoor State runner up. Lizzie Powell was a 3 time VHSL AAA State Champion with a personal best of 13’3″. Lizzie is the first girl in the state to clear 13 feet. Stephanie Oleson was a senior at Henrico High School with a personal best of 12’8.25″.
Some current athletes include Sasha Osipenko, VISAA/LIS Indoor and Outdoor Champion, of Saint Catherine’s School with a current PR of 11 feet 3 inches. Madison Philhower, multiple district, regional, and state top 3 finisher; of Mills Godwin with a PR of 11 feet. As well as Addie Scelzi, a recent Villanova commit and regional/state champion, who won 5A south regionals last outdoor with a jump of 12’1″. Some of our current boys include senior Andy Chess of Trinity Episcopal who has a PR of 13’6. He jumped to second place at the indoor VISAA state championships. Jelan Washington of Douglas Freeman has a PR of 12’9″ and has had multiple top 8 finishes in conferences and regionals.
